If you’ve ever written, read or interacted with Student Union Sports, you’re well aware of the culture at hand created by the people involved. A sense of brotherhood and association within a welcoming community. This past summer, I’ve been on a mission to spend some time with the wonderful guys I’ve had the pleasure of writing and chatting with for couple of years now. When I took a trip to Kingsport, Tennessee, I made it a key point to visit those in the South Carolina area. We took a trip to Greenville, the home of the Drive, the Single-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. While the Drive played before our very eyes, it was another Greenville based club that caught our attention; Greenville Triumph SC.
As we chatted about college sports and other Student Union business, one gentleman leaned over from the left and introduced himself as Chris Lewis, the President of Greenville Triumph SC.
Lewis was kind enough to engage in discussion for the rest of our afternoon at the ballpark, but before we parted ways, he gave us his contact information in the event we’d like to continue the conversation.
I’m very appreciative and thankful for the opportunity to chat granted by Mr. Lewis, but please excuse my awkwardness in my first interview. I implore anybody that listens to try and find a good reason they won’t be rooting for Triumph’s triumph because I’ll guarantee you cannot.
On my Twitter page (@danimalj), I’ve always expressed a deep interest in the lovely game of soccer. I don’t think I’m the most qualified to conduct such an interview, but Chris Lewis was courteous and kind throughout.
Here’s why the new kids on the block are doing it the right way:
