Junior guard, Maishe Dailey, has entered the NCAA transfer portal and will not be a Hawkeye next season. This season Dailey averaged 12.5 minutes per game and shot 35.2% from the field.

All things considered, the move makes sense. Dailey didn’t see the court a whole lot this season. With incoming freshmen, Patrick McCaffrey and Joe Toussaint, set to take up even more of those minutes, Dailey’s playing time as a Hawkeye was looking even dimmer.

In response to this move, coach Fran McCaffrey spoke about Dailey, “Maishe has been a great teammate and a valuable member of our program.”

It is also worth mentioning that Dailey was the topic of some negative remarks in late November. Voice of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Gary Dolphin said, “We get Maishe Dailey. Dribbles into a double-team with his head down.” This resulted in a two-game suspension for Dolphin. Later in the season, Dolphin was suspended indefinitely for separate comments about a Maryland player.

Although he did not get much of an opportunity while he was a Hawkeye, best of luck to Maishe Dailey, wherever he ends up.
