From spring practices, the Georgia Bulldogs knew they had both the smothering defense and the complimentary offense to make it to the National Championship. They also expected Sophomore Jacob Eason to take them there not True Freshman Jake Fromm.
Week 1, Georgia got out of the gates slow against Appalachian State and then tragedy struck when Eason Scrambled to the right and hurt his knee. It looked like it would be lost year for Georgia because at the end of last year Eason appeared to come into his own. Reports were also coming out that Fromm only knew 50% of the playbook and was not ready to play.
Now, everyone knows how the rest of Georgia’s fantastic year went on the back of Fromm after the heartbreaking loss in Overtime of the National Championship last night. Fromm kept the Starting Job even when Eason came back due to his leadership ability and skill. All season long, Eason never complained to the media or the coaching staff and did nothing but try and help Fromm, so the news of him transferring might hurt some in the fanbase. But a player with his talent deserves to start somewhere rather than ride the pine for 2 more years.
Now comes in Washington, they were in the College playoff 2 years ago, and were a top 10 team all year in the follow up campaign. They have one more year left of Jake Browning, former Pac 12 Player of the Year. While Eason will have to sit out a year he will be in a perfect situation to pick the Brain of a top tier QB like Browning and get a full year of learning the playbook before taking over the reins. While Washington is in big need of a strong offensive recruiting class after Browning departs for the NFL, they will have QB checked off the list since now they have a proven starter to take over the next regime. It seems like an ideal situation for both Eason and the Washington Huskies.
