Zach Smith told @1057TheZone he never abused Courtney. Here is text message b/w Zach & Courtney when he admits & apologizes for strangling his wife on Punta Cana trip in March 2015 & again in April pic.twitter.com/GjcjWh6mFT

If you come at the king, you better not miss.
Urban Meyer dropped a vague statement claiming his knowledge of the incident and saying he reported it to the University a couple of hour ago. I wrote about it and gave my thoughts here:
So, we dropped this like half an hour ago, and as soon as we do, Zach Smith pops up on a damn Columbus radio station telling “his side of the story.” Smith claims that he never hit her, just “defensively restrained her” and “did nothing fireable” and just lost his job because of the media uproar.
To be fair, no one was really buying Smith’s bullshit in the first place, but then, our great hero arrived; Brett McMurphy has the receipts! The tweet (shown above) details a text between Zach and ex-wife Courtney Smith. It is very, very, bad. God bless it, what a freaking scumbag.
First off, hats off to McMurphy. As of right now, he is unemployed while ESPN pays out the remainder of his contract. This man broke a story on his Facebook page, and completely turned the college football world on its head. His dedication is something we should strive for.
But on the more serious note, the past 3 hours have done nothing at all to help Ohio State. It is very likely Zach Smith did this to try and help Meyer, but instead has made matters somehow worse if even possible. At this point, Meyer looks likely to lose his job, as no one will be shocked if even worse things come out. However, Gene Smith may be starting to sweat. As I have said before, I believe college football coaches are afforded an asinine amount of power, to the point where they are the most powerful figures on campus, and if Gene Smith knew and Urban was able to keep Smith on his coaching staff… Ugh.
We have seen how this story plays out before, and it often ends the same. Everybody (figuratively) dies at the end. In this scenario, they’re shamed and lose their jobs and hopefully never see the sideline again. I can tell you this, it is nowhere close to being over, and will be worse before it gets better for Ohio State. It is highly probable that this hangs over the Buckeyes for a long time, at least until they move on.
