Meyer is also suspended from the program through Sept. 2, and OSU athletic director Gene Smith has also been suspended without pay from Aug. 31 until Sept. 16.
“Although neither Urban Meyer nor Gene Smith condoned or covered up the alleged domestic abuse by Zach Smith, they failed to take sufficient management action relating to Zach Smith’s misconduct and retained an Assistant Coach who was not performing as an appropriate role model for OSU student-athletes,” the school said in a statement outlining the investigation’s findings. “Permitting such misconduct to continue is not consistent with the values of the University and reflects poorly on Coach Meyer, Athletic Director Smith, and the University. Their handling of this matter did not exhibit the kind of leadership and high standards that we expect of our Athletic Director, Head Coach, Assistant Coaches and all on the football staff.”
I mean, come on. What a joke the NCAA is, what a joke Ohio State is, and what a joke Urban Meyer is. This is beyond baffling and so wrong on so many levels. If you just watched that press conference and walked away saying that Urban Meyer and Ohio State should be in the clear, I feel bad for you. But hey, Urban Meyer called this a “learning experience.” JOKE.
As everyone knows, Urban Meyer was just suspended three games for lying about a domestic abuse case. THREE games. Urban Meyer lied, basically covered up a domestic abuse case, and pretty much allowed a woman to continue to get beaten, but hey, he got a 3 game suspension. Seems fair, right? Like I said, JOKE!
How can a 3 game suspension justify that? Well, because Urban Meyer is a Hall of Fame football coach, plain and simple. If he was just “good”, at best, he would’ve been fired a loooonnnngggg time ago. But, because Urban Meyer is a fantastic football coach, brings in a lot of money for the University, and wins games, he’s apparently excused from lying about a domestic abuse case.
But what is even worse is the Ohio State administration. How can you look at yourself in the mirror and say a three game suspension is justifiable? If you didn’t want to fire the guy, fine whatever, but to say he is only suspended three games because he didn’t “deliberately lie” is an absolute joke and everyone involved should be ashamed. He didn’t intend to lie?!?! So he wanted to lie but he didn’t mean to lie? What world are we living in where that is okay?? If you’re gonna suspend the guy and not the coach, you suspend him for the whole year, without pay. From August 1st 2018- August 1st 2019, Urban Meyer doesn’t get paid, he doesn’t enter the Ohio State campus, he can’t contact coaches, he can’t contact players and he can’t recruit. That is a decent punishment. Don’t get me wrong, he should be fired and never be able to coach again, but that is a fine punishment.
But it gets better. Urban Meyer “apologized” for everyone being in this spot. Hey asshole.
- You could’ve told someone in 2015.
- A woman didn’t have to continue to get beat.
- No one would be in this spot if you just told somebody.
But again, since he’s a Hall of Fame talent, he gets away with knowing that a woman was violently beaten and continued to give the man who did the beating a job. Makes e sick.
I hope Ohio States goes 3-9 this year and those three wins are the first three games without Urban Meyer on the sideline.
