The UNT revealed their 2022 World Games roster on Friday with a powerhouse pack of players, both former and current student-athletes. With a blend of both veterans and youth, this team will look to prove why they are among the best in the world.
Finding The Right Match
As previously mentioned, the roster includes the perfect blend of experience and youth with 8 members of the 2020 U.S Olympic team and 3 members of the Junior Women’s National Team that won gold in the World championship in 2019. The players come from all around the country in terms of college affiliation with 6 coming from SEC, 9 from PAC-12, 2 from BIG-12, and 1 from CAA. The roster is the perfect combination of pitching and hitting as two schools share the most players with 3 from each school
These schools include Florida with Charla Echols, Amanda Lorenz, and Michelle Moultrie and UCLA with Ally Carda, Bubba Nickles, and Megan Faraimo. When talking about this group of players, head coach Heather Tarr stated “This roster includes both experience and youth, and I truly believe this will be a team that our fans will love to follow as we compete for a gold medal at the 2022 World Games in Alabama this summer.”
The Path to Victory
After going through a four-day selection process to evaluate the players, the World Games will be held on July 7th through the 17th. Other popular countries from around the world will also be competing in these exciting games in Birmingham, Alabama. There is no doubt that the USA WNT has incredible talent just based on what they have on their roster. However, we will have to see what other countries bring to the table in terms of their own talent.
