As a likely-missed news dump during the national championship game, Washington State hires Nick Rolovich. The Hawaii coach and former Hawaii quarterback was 28-27 across his four seasons on the Big Island. Rolovich is known for his Run-N-Shoot offense, which has been led by Cole McDonald in recent years. Coming off a 10-5 season this year, Rolovich was a natural fit to move to the west coast and take on the Washington State job.
Following the departure of Mike Leach from Pullman, it seemed up in the air as to who would take over. Rolovich will provide a natural transition from the Air Raid to the Run-N-Shoot without skipping a beat. It was previously assumed that there would be a transition period around changing from the Air Raid, but this does not appear to be the case. When it was announced that Washington State hires Nick Rolovich, the response from journalists and fans was overwhelmingly positive. Rolovich is a well-like and well-respected guy. There are even Washington State recruits that are excited about that move. I assume that he will do well in Pullman from the reaction that he garnered.
