Hey you, are you sick of Alabama, and Clemson, and Georgia, and Ohio State? (I’m not) Then you better root like hell for Utah.

Not only is this our best chance to leave Alabama out, but this is the Pac-12’s big shot to get a playoff team.

And yes, I know that Washington made it in 2016. But that was such a bad selection year that I just ignore it. How Penn State was left out and Washington was in is beyond me. But anyway…..

It isn’t a death sentence, but Oregon losing on Saturday night hurts Utah. Beating a team that would be in the top five in the Pac-12 championship would all but guarantee Utah in the playoff.

But watching Utah is so much fun. They are the fourth-ranked defense in the country and with a top 20 offense, they have been awesome to watch at the bars on Saturday nights.

Tyler Huntley is the perfect dual-threat QB for a run-first offense. Their leading back, Zack Moss, has been electric all season. After running for over 200 yards against Arizona, he is now just under 1,200 yards rushing with 14 TDs.

But why should you root for Utah? Because the playoff is getting a little stale. Yeah, Alabama fans go ahead and root against them. But how awesome was the Ohio State cinderella story in 2014? Now imagine it with a team that didn’t have the brand that Ohio State has.

Imagine a Utah championship run? Obviously I don’t want it to happen and I mainly want Ohio State to play Utah in the first round so we don’t play Clemson until the championship game, BUT, I do love watching them play.

We deserve a real underdog story in the playoffs. And not one that was as boring as Washington was. We deserve Utah in the playoffs.
