Week 12 College Football Bad Beats

Although not the greatest matchup weekend we have ever seen in college football, we sure did have our share of bad beats.

I hope you found yourself on the right side of the outcomes of these games.

Iowa State (-7 1/2) @ Baylor

Outcome: Iowa State COVERS

Iowa State was up 20-13 with 10:26 left in the 4th quarter.  With the ball on their own 14 yard line, they march down the field, ending the drive with a 45 yard field goal to go up 23-13 with 7:01 left, leaving plenty of time for Baylor to score. With Baylor driving, Charlie Brewer’s pass gets intercepted on the Iowa State 7 yard line and returned to the Iowa State 38.  Iowa State runs the clock out and wins 23-13.

Middle Tennessee State @ Western Kentucky (O/U 56)

Outcome: OVER

If you had the under in this game, you were feeling pretty good about yourself rolling into the 4th quarter with Western up 10-3. That’s a 46 point cushion with 15 minutes (hopefully) of football to play. Within the first 24 seconds of the 4th quarter, MTSU puts 14 points on the board.  Two more quick scores by WKU, and we have a 24-17 ball game with 10 minutes left.  A MTSU score and 4 punts later, we have overtime, and an under nightmare. 24-24. Three overtimes later we end at a 41-38 WKU win and $0 to show for.

Missouri @ Vanderbilt (O/U 65)

Outcome: UNDER

The over was looking fantastic going into the 4th quarter in Nashville.  Although Missouri had a commanding 38-17 lead, points were being scored.  48 points were scored by both teams combined in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.  All the over bettor needed was 10 points, which seemed very attainable.  2 punts, an interception, a turnover on downs and a touchdown all accumulated to a 7 point 4th quarter and under bettors being allowed to breathe a sigh of relief.

Minnesota @ Northwestern (O/U 40)

Outcome: UNDER

Final score 39-0.  Vegas is wayyyyyy too good at their job.  The fact that Minnesota could not muster a score to help the over bettors is disgusting.  182 yards of offense and 5 turnovers is not quite the recipe for a win, let alone points, but to get shut out, that is gross football.

Air Force @ Boise State (O/U 61)

Outcome: OVER

Boise State was up 37-10 going into the 4th quarter, with the thought of 61 points looking good. The fourth quarter made everyone hold their breath a bit, though. 1:42 left in the game, Ryan Wolpin plunges into the end zone for the Broncos to go up 44-19, leaving over bettors counting their blessings for the garbage time points and a late cover.

Life is way too short to bet the under
