Today, on the Pat McAfee Show, Aaron Rodgers said “I sometimes laugh when people talk about down years for me, because a lot of times down years for me are career years for most quarterbacks.” After, an entertaining reaction from host Pat McAfee and former teammate AJ Hawk, Rodgers added:
“It’s just the facts, bro.”
First of all, go off KING. Second of all, I hope the media doesn’t run with this and say “Oh, look at cocky Aaron” or “Aaron being arrogant again”. The amount of teammates who have come to Rodgers side when people, like Greg Jennings, say he wasn’t a great teammate, is astronomical. Aaron Rodgers was the victim of Brett Favre’s attitude and lack of professionalism when he was leaving Green Bay. Don’t twist that into, but he still wanted to play. I understand that. I’m able to compartmentalize and process wanting to play. I don’t understand not wanting to help the next in line.
With that being said, Aaron has seen many negative headlines. He’s seen many positive ones. Despite that, there are people who doubt Aaron Rodgers still. I have no clue where that comes from.
Aaron Rodgers By the Numbers
-Aaron Rodgers currently sits at 12th on the all-time passing yards list
-Aaron Rodgers currently sits at 7th on the all-time passing touchdowns list. -Aaron Rodgers has the BEST touchdown-interception ratio EVER.
Rodgers has the 5th most 60% completion percentage, 4,000 yard, 30 TD seasons of any quarterback ever. More than the 4 Brett Favre had, more than “Hall of Famer” Eli Manning, and quarterbacks like Marino and Warner.
Just about anywhere you go, you’ll find Aaron Rodgers name among the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game.
What I Don’t Understand
Aaron Rodgers has been the benchmark for elite quarterback play for at least 10 years now. It’s appalling that people have doubted a guy like Aaron. He has gone one of the roads less traveled and people believe he’s slowing down. I understand that he’s another broken collarbone away from hanging it up, but I’m not sure why people doubt the ability.
There are people who will sit there and cheer on a 43 year-old and not question his play. They’ll sit there and question a guy who is 6 years younger and, by all accounts, has more mobility, arm strength, you name it.
MVP Race
Rodgers now has planted himself in the MVP race. As we’ve reached 1/4 of the way through the season, Rodgers has the best QBR in the NFL, is 2nd in passing touchdowns and passer rating, and is 5th in passing yards along with 0 interceptions. As 2020 continues for the Packers, Rodgers will be at the helm of the NFL’s best offense.
With an illustrious career and no signs of stopping, I ask that next time you think about doubting Aaron Rodgers, you think again.
