Zack Baun 2020 NFL Draft Breakdown

The most versatile player in this class, outside of Isaiah Simmons, is Zack Baun. Listed as an edge rusher by most, Zack Baun is probably more suited to play off the line of scrimmage. The Wisconsin linebacker measured in at 6’2″ and 238 pounds at the combine and has shown the athleticism to play multiple linebacker positions.

Positives:

Insanely versatile. Baun can rush the passer, drop back in coverage and win in the run game. And he can do it all effectively. Great hands to go along with solid footwork. He has multiple ways to get to the quarterback. His ability to drop back in coverage might be my favorite of his. He can legitimately be a full-time NFL linebacker without ever lining up on the edge.

Negatives:

He’s a good athlete, but not a great one. If his technique isn’t working, odds are he isn’t getting it done. His eyes can wonder in RPO or counter plays, leading to missed assignments. He’s kind of stiff around the edge, but I don’t think that’s where he’ll be playing.
