Syracuse redshirt freshman forward Matthew Moyer has announced via Twitter that he will be leaving the program.

Moyer saw significant action in the first part of the season this year, but averaged just six minutes per game in the team’s final seven games. For the season, Moyer averaged 16.8 minutes per game, scoring 3.2 points per game and 3.4 rebounds per game. The emergence of freshman Marek Dolezaj limited Moyer to a bench role, and now with Oshae Brissett returning and five-star forward Darius Bazley set to join the team next season, Moyer’s role would likely be diminished even more. Bazley, at 6’9″ 200 lbs, is almost a carbon-copy of Moyer, who is listed at 6’8″ 215 lbs.

Moyer, a 2016 recruit, was a four-star recruit out of high school, and chose Syracuse over Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Indiana, among many others. It is unclear where exactly Moyer will consider, but he will have three years of eligibility remaining.
