After this weekend we see four teams at the top of the B1G West with only one loss. Northwestern (4-1), Iowa (3-1), Wisconsin(3-1), and Purdue (3-1) all find themselves competing for a spot in Indy to win a B1G title.
For Northwestern, they have a tough patch coming up, they play host to Wisconsin, and then head to Kinnick. This isn’t exactly the easiest schedule, but there’s a real possibility that even if they lose one game they still have a very good shot at making it to Indianapolis.
For Iowa, they play two back to back road games that could cause potential problems. They start off in Happy Valley as they visit the Nittany Lions, then go to Ross Ade Stadium where Purdue looks to stay hot.
Wisconsin probably has one of the most complexing schedules remaining of the four, as they play Rutger and Minnesota at home, but visit Penn State and Purdue. In recent history most people would assume that they will end up winning the West, but screw history. What say you?
We end this list with Purdue. A lot of my friends continuously say that they are the best 4-3 team in the country, having all three of those losses by a combined score of 11 points. They have an interesting setup with their remaining schedule. They play two ranked teams who probably have the best shot of winning the West at home, but it will be those away games where they will need to make their stand as one of those three games will be where they would slip up.
The overwhelming favorite to win the division has to go to Iowa right now, they’re hitting their groove at the perfect time on both sides of the ball. My hopeful though would be Purdue. It seems as if in every big game Jeff Brohm finds the perfect play call in every situation, and plus I think they are a very fun team to watch.
