As everyone is stuck inside with no live sports to watch or write about, you have probably seen many articles similar to this one. The uniform debate in sports in a never-ending one. Fans can debate the talents of teams and players using a never-ending multitude of statistics, but there are no such measurements for uniforms. They are completely subjective, left to the personal opinion of whoever is discussing them.

Before we begin, a few notes:

  • This list concerns the quality of individual uniforms, not entire uniform sets.
  • Feel free to comment and share your opinion. Our lists will probably not be the same, but that is the whole point with articles such as this one.

#10: LSU Gold Jerseys

The “Championship Golds” have some history behind them, as LSU first donned the uniform during the 1996 tournament, and eventually wore them during the National Championship. With 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, with a runner on third and LSU trailing by a run, Warren Morris hit a walk-off 2-run homer to clinch the Tigers’ 4th national championship. The team went on to win the national championship again the following season while wearing the Golds again. On top of the history, they’re just a clean uniform with a perfect combo of the purple/gold colors. This guy’s matching Wilson glove is a nice touch, too.

#9: Kentucky Black Jerseys

Simple and sleek. There isn’t too much to these uniforms, but that’s what makes them so nice. The checkerboard pattern on the sleeves is a really nice detail as well. The black jersey contrasts well with the white pants, although we’ll see later on that black-on-black can look cool too.

#8: North Carolina White Uniform

The UNC baby blue is a signature look for the school, and the Heels’ home uniforms place it perfectly on a white backdrop. Carolina has six different uniforms currently, including two with a powder-blue primary top, and a navy blue one as well. However, none compare to the sleekness and style of these whites.

#7: Texas White Uniform

Another simple, clean design. The Longhorns are another school with a multitude of uniforms, but the ones that stand out the least end up standing out the most. The burnt-orange plays perfectly off of the white as a secondary color, and the Texas flag on side of the cap is a nice touch as well.

#6: Louisville Black Uniform

I told you black-on-black can look cool, too. The Cardinals’ all-black look stands out instantly, with red trimming around white lettering for the names and numbers. Sticking with the black for the hats and helmets was a good decision, as well. If you’re going to commit to all-black, then you might as well go all in, and Louisville has clearly done so with these uniforms.

#5: Arkansas Cream Jerseys

‘Cream’ and ‘clean’ don’t sound similar for no reason! These are some of the cleanest jerseys around, again showing us that less can be much more. The stylized ‘A’ on the chest is really a thing of beauty, with the perfect font for the name/number on the back. A traditional-looking jersey matches perfectly with a program that began in 1896.

#4: Vanderbilt Cream Jerseys

Back-to-back cream jerseys make an appearance on the list, and they are both well-justified. This jersey first made an appearance at the beginning of the 2019 season and has quickly risen through the ranks as a top jersey in college baseball. Unlike the Arkansas creams, Vanderbilt makes more use of secondary colors, with black piping running throughout the jersey, as well as ‘Vanderbilt’ across the chest, compared to the Arkansas ‘A’ on the side of the chest.

#3: Ole Miss Powder Blue Uniform

Powder blue is making a comeback, and these guys are at the forefront. Off to a 16-1 start before the virus ended the season this year, the Rebels stand out for both their play and their beautiful uniforms. The red hats and socks are a perfect contrast as well. Now if only more guys would wear stirrups.

#2: Mississippi State Pinstriped Uniform

Just an absolutely classic look. The pinstripes are as old as time and match perfectly with the simplistic ‘State’ plastered across the chest. It’s only natural that one of the most historic programs in the game utilizes a traditional, classic-looking uniform. This uniform just oozes ‘baseball’.

#1: Tulane Powder Blue Jerseys

Photo via ncaa.com

This is a tough jersey to beat. The twin pelicans on the bat, in a Cardinals-esque nod, are truly a thing of beauty. On top of that, the jersey is powder blue. On top of that, the secondary color is a dark green (after all, they are the Tulane Green Wave), providing a unique combo not often seen on a throwback-style uniform such as this. The final touch is the fact that the jersey is an 80s-style pullover, for maximum throwback effect. Despite the runner in the picture wearing white pants, Tulane is also planning on wearing these with matching powder blue pants to really dedicate themselves to the 80s feel.

Overall, there are so many different uniform/jersey combos in collegiate baseball that it would be near impossible to create a consensus top-10 list. However, for various reasons, these are ten of the best uniforms around.
