THIS IS AN ARTICLE, by Luke Maiers who is a member of Team Joey Freshwater.
Earlier this college basketball season I wrote an article on how the Northwestern Wildcats had a real chance at making the NCAA Tournament. After last night, that dream has become a reality. With 1.7 seconds left on the clock and the score tied up at 65 against Michigan, the Wildcats went all Blue Devil and were handed a gift from God.
Dererk Pardon caught a Hail Mary, which you would have sworn Aaron Rodgers threw, put the ball off glass, and the pure emotion of March kicked in immediately after that. This play has become one of my favorite plays of all time, and I think it is certainly the biggest/best play this season.
Northwestern has never made the Big Dance, and with this legendary win, there is no way that the Wildcats can be kept out. This is what makes March so great. The drama, the impossible happening, and the emotion of the teams who don’t get to the Tournament often.
When Selection Sunday rolls around, enjoy it Northwestern fans. You deserve it and you have waited a very long time for this moment. One final note, Chris Collins should be the National Coach of the Year.
