While you were watching the sadly predictable second half of Ohio State-Indiana, UConn was mounting a furious second half comeback against FCS Holy Cross. We didn’t get to see the upset we deserved, but the SNY camera crew gave us this gem instead.

Randy Edsall’s return to coaching was … not promising. Huskies starting QB David Pindell was yanked from the game and the Crusaders led 20-7 at halftime. Giving up 447 total yards to a 5-5 FCS team in your much anticipated return was probably not what Randy had in mind.

You know the backup QB in the clip above has probably spent all fall sucking up to Coach Edsall in hopes that he might benefit from a short leash on the starter. I can just tell by how intently he practices taking a knee that he would be the type. Any quarterback worth a damn spends the moments before a kneel down hyping up the student section or talking with his boys about where he’s headed to party after. Unfortunately you forfeit that ability when you can barely put away a middling FCS team at home.

Huskies fans are probably trying their hardest to go with “a win is a win” today, and I’d be doing the same. But this team is going to be really bad and it’s up in the air if they can top their three wins from last season or even the two wins in 2014. When does basketball season start?

Oh, and can we talk about the AAC for a second?

Tulsa gets blown up by Oklahoma State, fine. UCF put up a billion yards on Florida International. Congrats.

But I have to feel for the social media intern who was obligated to spin this one into something positive.

Austin Peay is a 15-seed in the NCAA tournament every three years or so. I didn’t know they had football, or if they’re even good in whatever league they play in. G5 conferences have to do their best to get their brand out there, and I wish the Mountain West would try as hard as the AAC.

Even if “trying” means “chalking up” a 12-point home win over Austin Peay on Twitter, I applaud your effort AAC. I’m just glad for their sake that they didn’t go with #AmericanPow6r instead.
