Trae Young and #4 Oklahoma went into the Little Apple expecting a fight, but to ultimately come out on top. The Octagon of Doom and the K-State Wildcats had other plans. The Wildcats ABSOLUTELY PUMMELED the Sooners 87-69. Nice. The Wildcats got their first win against a ranked opponent, and probably just gave dusty Bruce Weber another life. Oh right, they just gave him an extension anyways

The Wildcats did this, more impressively, without their best player, Kamau Stokes. Stokes usually runs the point while Barry Brown is the sidekick. Brown has stepped into the role, and has done everything Bruce Weber SHOULD ask of him, and more. Brown dropped 38 in a win against Oklahoma State in Kamau’s first game out, and got his 24, before he got got doe, S/O Marshawn.

Trae Young looked pretty rough, especially from his home: 3-point land. The National Player of the Year candidate went 2/10 from 3, 8/21 overall, and added 12 turnovers to a tough loss on the road. You can chalk this up to the Octagon doing its thing, and I hope to GOD Sandstorm was played.

Trae will be fine, Oklahoma will be fine, and the Big 12 is just very good at basketball. This is the best conference in college basketball, and it’s not close. Having Oklahoma, West Virginia, KU, TCU, and Texas Tech all being top 10 teams at a point so far this season and having the lesser teams beat those great teams when they play at home is what makes this league so difficult. Baylor, Texas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and Iowa State are all threats when playing at home.

The Big 12 is deep, and it will only make them better come the tournament. Or will it wear out the entire conference? We will just have to see how it plays out, but don’t think Trae Young is going to start declining in performance.
