Game changer and five-star recruit Taeshon Cherry has confirmed Tuesday night that he has committed to Arizona State. Cherry is “110% committed to Arizona State University!!! #FORKSUP,” said Cherry on his twitter account with a video.

Cherry is a 6 foot 8 forward from Foothills Christian High Calif. where he has been keeping an average of 10.2 rebounds and 20.6 points per game. He is a five-star forward and a ranking as the sixth-best small forward. He also ranked 22nd overall according to ESPN and 27th overall in the 247sports Composite. It is expected for Cherry to be a top talent and to change the game once he steps into ASU in fall 2018.

Initially, Cherry was committed to USC, but decided last June to decommit and made the decision official in late December.  According to a Los Angeles Times report, he was involved in the federal criminal complaint, associated with USC assistant coach Tony Bland, and that was a main reason for his decommitment. His mother denied this claim.

Visiting the Tempe campus as part of his college visits when his recruitment reopened, he talked with some of the ASU men’s basketball players while they warmed up against Oregon. Later that week he watched ASU take on Oregon State.

After visiting ASU, Cherry was scheduled to visit Texas A&M but cancelled because of his impending commitment to Arizona State. Cherry said it was a hard decision but ASU is were he wanted to be.

Cherry will be joining four star Elias Valtonen, five star Luguentz Dort in the 2018 recruiting class for the Sun Devils’ head coach Bobby Hurley. The team will lose seniors Tra Holder, Shannon Evans II and Kodi Justice, so Cherry’s commitment is huge for longevity in the program. The new addition to the team will help the Sun Devils to continue to perform at the top as they have been doing this season.
