Quarterback best

Which of the quarterbacks will be the best?

The University of Georgia has signed three 5 star quarterbacks in the last 4 years. Only 1 remains on campus. If you follow college football, you probably know what their names are. Jacob Eason, Jake Fromm, and Justin Fields all signed with Georgia in consecutive years from 2016-2018. You also probably know which one stayed, and which ones left. You may even know what schools the 2 that left transferred to… but the question that remains to be answered is: Which one will have the best season?

Criteria:

When comparing these three QB’s, it’s important to do so with common factors in determining the answer. Many people may have different definitions of success. So, below; I am going to list each factor and determine which QB wins that particular area of concern. These factors will come together to answer which one has the best season. Remember that this is in regards to the upcoming 2019 season, so take this for what it is: a prediction.

Leadership

When looking at an overall season for a QB, one element that measures his effectiveness is his ability to lead. How does his team respond to him in adversity? Does the team trust him? Does he lead by example in big moments? Is he a positive influence in the locker room? Just listing out these questions already sounds like I am just flat out describing one of these players.

Answer: Jake Fromm

Stats

Numbers don’t lie, right? Between these 3 quarterbacks, some monster numbers are liable to be put up. Fromm will put up his fair share of yards and TDs, but the UGA backfield will likely steal some of his show. Jacob Eason will throw the ball all over the yard at the University of Washington, but he lacks the offensive weapons that the other two have. Which leaves us with potentially the most explosive player of the 3: Justin Fields. The dual threat ability of Fields and the opportunities he’ll get to throw the ball in the Ohio State offense will thrust him to the top of gaudy stats between the 3.

Answer: Justin Fields

NFL Potential Shown

Many fans of college football may measure success by how the player demonstrates his ability to play at the next level: the National Football League. Between these three players, I want to identify which player could show off his arm talent in such a way that makes NFL scouts just drool. While many consider Jake Fromm to be a first round talent, and rightfully so, I feel that Jacob Eason could be the one out of this group to really take a step and show off how ready his arm is for the NFL.

Answer: Jacob Eason

Result: (Kinda)

Well, I have now compared three main aspects in the quarterbacks’ play that can be signs of a successful season. Let’s take a look at which QB came out on top. Wait… none of them did. The “score” is tied 3 ways at 1-1-1. How could that be? If only there was one more piece of criteria to consider when determining success. Hmm… maybe there is.

Winning

Ahh, of course. The most important factor in determining the best QB season is winning right? For example, just ask the 31 other teams in the NFL which QB is the best… perhaps the one with 6 super bowl rings. Whether it’s right or wrong; the QB is the first one praised for a win and the last one given an excuse for a loss. So which one of these 3 will be praised the most in 2019?

Answer- Jake Fromm

The University of Georgia has done plenty of winning over the past 2 years, going 24-5 in that span. In fact, that was the main reason Jake Fromm just simply could not be taken off the field for the likes of the other 2 players, forcing Eason to Washington and Fields to Ohio State. I don’t see any signs of the winning slowing down in 2019. Fromm is poised to lead his team to yet another double digit win season with hopes of another run to the college football playoff. That makes him the most likely to have the best season of these three quarterbacks.
