One month of college basketball is in the books and sure, it’s fun to watch Marvin Bagley III, Miles Bridges and Bonzie Colson, but what about the guys who can’t be seen on ESPN every time they play? Once a month, one player from a mid-major school will be selected as the Student Union Mid-Major Player of the Month. They are selected because of their outstanding on-court efforts statistically. November’s winner: Matt Scott, Niagra Purple Eagles

Matt Scott has been wreaking havoc on opposing teams since the minute this season started. Although the Purple Eagles have faced some difficult games, including Minnesota, BYU and UT Arlington, Scott has been able to put the team on his back and average 25.6 points per game, good for third in the nation in scoring. He is also doing this shooting just under 50 percent from the floor (.496%). If Niagra wants to make some noise in the MAAC conference this season, the Senior guard will need some help, but that doesn’t negate the fact that it was a special month for Matt Scott.
