Thursday afternoon, NBA prospect Terrence Clarke tragically passed in a car crash in Southern California. Clarke, 19 years old, was an electrifying athlete for Coach Calipari who suffered from injuries his freshman season. Nonetheless, the guard was a potential first round pick in this summer’s NBA Draft. The Boston native, played eight games in his freshman season averaging almost 10 points a game. A dynamic wing scorer, he idolized Celtics players Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, working out with the NBA stars consistently. The wing was a player that could be compared to the two, a long guard with athleticism, Clarke made electrifying plays for the Wildcats prior to injury that gave him an NBA future.

The incident that occurred Thursday is a reminder of how fragile life is. One moment you are working out with your best friends potentially realizing your dream, the next life completely changes. Previously mentioned, Clarke was a native of Boston. Growing up in Dorchester, the most largest and most diverse neighborhood in the city. Dreams of playing for the Celtics along with his idols were ripped away.

What can not be forgotten is the trauma fellow Wildcat BJ Boston had to go through. Boston, another projected first round pick who was in the car trailing Clarke, was also involved in the crash and treated for injuries Thursday Night.

Prayers go out go out to Terrence Clarke’s family and friends along with BJ Boston’s. Clarke was truly a life gone too soon.
