According to a report from ESPN, FAU head coach Lane Kiffin is heading back to the SEC. This time, to coach the Ole Miss Rebels.

Kiffin was the head coach for the Florida Atlantic Owls for the past two seasons. Kiffin will become the fourth head coach at Ole Miss in the past ten seasons.

It was announced after Florida Atlantic’s Conference USA Championship win over UAB that Kiffen would in fact be heading to Oxford.

Kiffin was a hot name among open jobs as it was reported that Arkansas and other schools were interested.

Kiffin’s first coaching job came in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders during the highly successful JaMarcus Russell era. After two years with the Raiders, he was fired and named the head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers in 2009.

After one hilarious season with Tennessee, which included him hiding in his office after Tennesse fans rioted after it was announced that he was leaving, he bolted for his “dream job” at USC. Where more hilarity ensued.

After a loss to Arizona St in 2013, Kiffin was not even allowed on the plane home and was fired from USC, which started an amazing trend of fans calling for under-performing coaches to “not be allowed on the plane back home.”

Kiffin then became the OC at Alabama, where he won a national championship in 2015. In 2017, he accepted the head coaching job at FAU, where he found great success.

Kiffin has a 61-34 overall record in college. He will be replacing Matt Luke as head coach at Ole Miss.
