Introduction
This year’s NFL Draft only features two top quarterbacks. In comparison to the five selected in the first round last year, quarterback needy teams have done the unthinkable. Such as acquiring Ryan Tannehill, and keeping Derek Carr.
With Trevor Lawrence at least two years away, and Tua leading Alabama to at least one more national championship game. NFL teams are forced to make tough decisions regarding their signal caller.
The two quarterbacks projected to go in top 10 are Dwayne Haskins of Ohio State and Kyler Murray from the University of Oklahoma.
Murray is 5’10” of athleticism and pin-point accuracy. His former coach Kliff Kingsbury of the Arizona Cardinals is expected to take him number one overall.
Murray won the 2018 Heisman Trophy. If he was 2 inches taller and twenty pounds heavier, he would be considered the best quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck.
Tim Hasselbeck of ESPN raved, “Murray is the best running quarterback since Michael Vick, and has by-far the best arm of any running quarterback I’ve ever seen,” Hasselback said.
Murray’s greatness is not up for discussion however, his accolades, record as a starter and skills speak for themselves.
The case for Rosen
The lame-duck in Arizona, Josh Rosen, has the potential to not only be the best qb acquired from the 2019 draft, but the best value too. An anonymous GM listed Josh Rosen’s value at a 3rd round pick.
A 22 year old quarterback with the potential to be the next Aaron Rodgers is on the trading block. This should intrigue teams already, but the low asking price sets this acquisition apart.
I listed Rosen as the best quarterback in the 2018 draft class. After an inconsistent year for Rosen I currently favor Mayfield over him. But he shows tons of talent and potential nonetheless.
Dwayne Haskins, the other top prospect in the 2019 quarterback class simply does not have the arm talent, or football IQ of Rosen. Haskins will go on to be a franchise cornerstone but has a higher asking price than Rosen.
There are many fringe candidates in the 2019 class which is intriguing for both fans and GMs alike. They clamor to snatch up the next Russell Wilson or Tom Brady.
Worthy Comparisons
However, there are many more Trevor Simiens than there are Tom Bradys. Drew Locke, Daniel Jones, and Gardiner Minshew II all fall into the fringe category to me.
While they have NFL ready pieces, they simply do not have the complete profile to be a longterm starter in the NFL. There isn’t anything wrong with that. Ryan Fitzpatrick has built quite the career for himself without ever having to win a meaningful game.
A fringe prospect is a great value in middle rounds, but many teams who need a franchise quarterback should have the Cardinals on speed dial. The Raiders, Cowboys, Redskins, Bengals, Giants, Patriots and Dolphins should all be keeping tabs on the status of the man known as ‘Chosen Rosen.’
Best NFL fit

After trading OBJ to the Cleveland Browns, Giants fans need something to cheer for. Running Back Saquan Barkley simply cannot carry this burden by himself. Even after Barkley gained over 2000 yards from scrimmage, the G-men are still finished 5-11 and last in the NFC East.
Eli Manning has looked more like a 43 year old than Tom Brady and Eli is only 38 years old. It is time for the Giants to look for a replacement and there is one who is right in front of them, Josh Rosen.
Other franchises on the list should be inquire about Josh Rosen frequently, but New York should be the most aggressive to make the move. With extra draft capitol after the OBJ trade. As well as notoriously restless fan base the Giants have what it takes to get a deal done.
