The U is finally on it’s way back to the top of the college football world after a decade plus absence.

Braxton Berrios is the leading receiver for No. 7 Miami

Every college football season, fans gather to ponder the same questions. Is Texas back?  How about USC? Is Butch Jones fired yet? Is the U back? The first three seem to be no’s, but to answer the last question, hell yeah they are. Well, maybe. Watching the game against Virginia Tech might have been the most fun Miami game in five years or more. The Al Golden Era didn’t get the blood pumping at all. I think all Miami and college football fans can agree that Al Golden was a terrible hire by the Canes. Mark Richt has brought new life to one of the most storied programs in college football.

Hard Rock Stadium was fucking rocking on Saturday against the Hokies. It was awesome to watch and being there must have been insane. The videos themselves should have shown the country Miami isn’t messing around. Girls hitting cops, cops hitting girls, if that’s not prime time Miami shit, then I don’t know what is.

The offense hasn’t been incredible, but they’ve been clutch, such as pulling it out when it matters most against Florida State. If The U wasn’t back, they’d lose that game. But this year, it’s different. Malik Rosier has been efficient, even though not great all the time. Losing Mark Walton was a huge blow, as the senior was making a push towards a great season before entering the NFL. However, his replacement, Travis Homer, has shown up and shown out and he’s been ELECTRIC. There hasn’t even been a minor step back for the sophomore back out of West Palm Beach. The receiving core might be the most underrated in the entire country. Braxton Berrios is probably the next great New England Patriot. Former freshman All-American Ahmmon Richards hasn’t been 100% yet, but the guy’s electric and far too talented not to breakout soon.

The defense is what’s going to give them a shot at the College Football Playoff. Their linebacking core is young and elite. Sophomores Shaquille Quaterman and Michael Pinckney have had no problem leading this defense to be one of the best in the country. Safety Jaquan Johnson leads the team with 58 tackles and is really holding that secondary in check. Last Saturday against Virginia Tech was one of those games where the defense gave the crowd life. Pick after pick, hit after hit, it was something college football needs from a program, and it being the U makes it that much better.

Let’s not forget about the turnover chain. It’s 100 times better than the pimp cane that Texas A&M pulled out in the beginning of the season. It’s impossible not to love. I can’t pretend to know anything about karat gold, because I really have no idea. BUT, a 10 karat gold, sapphire studded chain is absolutely wild. This is the type of stuff that separates South Beach from every other place in the country. Just doing their own thing and not giving a single fuck about anyone else. Hell, look at these defensive highlights from just the Virginia Tech game.

I think we can all agree if The U can take care of business against the Fighting Irish this Saturday at home, then one of college football’s most asked questions will be answered. The U will finally be back.
