The UCLA faithful may have been fearful of their quarterback situation for next year with Rosen going to the draft. I am here to say, they have nothing to worry about. The Bruins’ highest ranked recruit, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, shows signs of being an elite level quarterback. Thompson-Robinson is the #38 ranked recruit in the country and #3 at his position. The 4-star dual-threat QB attends football powerhouse Bishop Gorman HS in Las Vegas, and he is ranked the #2 recruit in Nevada.

See the source imageDorian Thompson-Robinson was the starting quarterback for Team Highlight last night in the Under Armour All America Game. You could see that he has all of the tools necessary to compete at the college level immediately. Thompson-Robinson has an athletic build, standing 6’2”/195, and has a great ability to run along with his strong arm. One of the most impressive plays of the game was the play where the UCLA commit rolled out to the left and turned to throw a ball on the dime to Maurice Washington for a touchdown.

Here Thompson-Robinson shows the ability to move around in the pocket and put the ball on spot downfield. The ability to thread the needle with these throws will be a great strength at the next level. Here is another example of his ability to make a sharp throw around defenders when Thompson-Robinson reaches his high school teammate and Miami commit Brevin Jordan:

The entire UCLA fan base is excited about the arrival of Chip Kelly, and this is another example of why. Kelly will be able to compete in recruiting with anyone on the West Coast. If Kelly brings in kids like this on a regular basis, watch out for UCLA to make noise in the PAC 12 very soon. Thompson-Robinson has all of the aspects to succeed in a Chip Kelly style of offense. UCLA fans have a lot to look forward to.
