It’s over. You blew it. If you don’t believe now, don’t bother packing, the station is closed.

Tonight, and into the morning, Deion Sanders and his Colorado Buffaloes checked off the final box. First, a top 20 road win where Coach Prime’s son, Shedeur, set a school record in passing yards and led the CU offense to 45 points in a marathon football game. Next, a defense that seemed to have many questions only gave up 14 points, with 7 of them coming on the final play of the game. Lastly, a stone-cold comeback. At home, bright lights, all the “bull junk” of a rivalry week.

Down 11 with 11 minutes left, Shedeur led a drive that ended in a field goal. After the Buffalo defense made a stand, they had 98 yards and 2 minutes. Going 5/6 on the drive with a 45-yard touchdown to Jimmy Horn Jr., who bullied his way to the goal line. So, we went to overtime.

For some reason, Colorado won the coin toss and elected to take the ball first. A football faux pas if there ever was one. With the help of some penalties, CU scored and took a 7-point lead. Colorado State, not impressed, scored on 4 plays. In the 2nd overtime, the Buffs faced some adversity after their first play went for a loss of 5 yards. They’d also overcome a 1st and goal from 18 yards out by scoring on the ensuing play after a holding penalty. The CU defense got burnt when CSU QB Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi scampered into the end zone. But hold on just a minute. An illegal blind side block knocked CSU back and they would ultimately throw an interception in the end zone to end the game. This all happened without their best player in Travis Hunter, who was taken to a local hospital after getting injured on a cheap shot to the ribs. The Buffaloes, now 3-0, are here to stay.

This team, the belief, is no fluke. You can hate Deion if you like, but this is your final warning. You have until the end of this to make your decision. It was a night that started with emotions on high, escalated after the Hunter injury. Colorado State was penalized 16 times to CU’s 10. As a matter of fact, TCU had more penalties than Colorado in the season opener.

I don’t believe Deion’s coaching brand to be what we’ve seen with him throughout his entire life. The flashy chain, the smile, the glasses. Colorado is not some version or idea of a gorgeous sports car that’s beautiful on the outside but runs like shit. No. This team has embodied his “don’t give a fuck what you think of me” attitude and paired it with hard work and mental toughness.

When you go back to the overtime period and rewatch, take a look at the hit Shedeur takes on the roughing the passer penalty. The kid has been playing for hours, led an emotional comeback, and he popped right back up. Just to deliver a touchdown a few plays later. THAT is what this Colorado team is and will continue to look like. Colorado can compete and beat the best of them. The question you now face is… Will you let the media circus distract you from all of the good Deion has brought to Boulder or will you be the hater who missed the train?
