Around 1 PM on Wednesday, Eyabi Anoma inked his pledge to the University of Alabama. Anoma has been all but a lock to end up in Tuscaloosa. The Baltimore native is the top ranked player in Maryland and finds himself as high as #4 in the 2018 rankings. Anoma has been uncommitted all throughout his recruiting process. He had offers from practically every school in the country, but Michigan, Maryland and Alabama led the race.

St. Frances Academy, where Anoma attended, is a powerhouse in high school football. MaxPreps has them #10 in the country. Anoma will come in with some experience playing in big games. He seems to be a student of the game. When asked about Anoma, his high school assistant coach said that “His intensity, his awareness, his hustle, his enthusiasm, he’s a great leader, great competitor,”. Despite his 5-star rating, Anoma is competing in just his second season of organized football. Before that, he was an excellent basketball player.

Anoma is the fourth DE the Tide has brought in today. Alabama’s is rising back to the top and this signing will only move them higher. Expect to see Alabama in the top 5 before the day is over.
