After a solid 4-2 last Wednesday, Austin and I decided to take a bit of a hiatus to celebrate our winnings Wolf of Wall Street style (Coke, strippers, the whole nine yards).  Actually, not quite, but still, you get the jist.  I don’t know about Austin, but I didn’t fare too well against the books this weekend, so I’m pretty glad I didn’t make any of my picks public. However, I’m proud to say that we’re here to stay starting on this beautiful Monday. From now through March, Austin and I will be bringing you our expert (ishhhh) college basketball gambling advice daily. So folks, sit back and enjoy, because the madness is officially rolling in.

Austin’s Picks:

Elon (-3) vs James Madison: Elon may be one of the most disappointing teams in the NCAA this season. The veteran-lead team is in danger of finishing in last place of the Colonial conference. This is a perfect buy low opportunity for the Phoenix. They are playing their last game at home on senior night and trying to snap a 5 game losing streak. The experienced Phoenix team will be playing for pride and will want to end the regular season on a good note before entering their conference tournament. Elon has underachieved so far this season, so you are gonna get great value going forward. I think Elon turns it around and plays spoiler the rest of the season.

Florida Gulf Coast (-19) vs USC Upstate: Many people will fade this game with FGCU giving up nearly 20 points. However, you should not sweat as Dunk City should dominate this contest. The Eagles are 24-7 ATS this season while USC Upstate is 0-7 straight up and ATS in their last 7 contests. Both Haslam Metrics and Kenpom have FGCU winning this contest by more than 20 points. In their first game of the postseason, FGCU will be playing with a sense of urgency. FGCU has the three best players on the floor with Brandon Goodwin, Zachary Johnson, and Christian Terrell, also.

Alex’s Picks:

Duke (-5.5) @ Virginia Tech:  Virginia Tech is historically a tricky matchup for the Fighting Krzyzewski’s, but quite honestly, I don’t care. Duke is on a hot streak of epic proportions over the last two weeks, winning their last five games and their last two by an average of 21 points.  Marvin Bagley was as efficient as a brand new washing machine in their win over Syracuse on Saturday, gathering 19 points on 8 of 9 field goals.  Expect the Duke train to keep rolling through Blacksburg tonight.  Oh, and if you’re a bettor, ride the Dukies until further notice.

Texas @ Kansas (-12):  In one of my riskier picks of late, I’m on the Jayhawks to destroy the childhood hopes and dreams of the Texas Longhorns tonight in a romping rivaled by that of what KU did to Oklahoma just over a week ago.  Kansas is on a hot streak paralleled by only one college basketball team at the moment (refer to my first pick) and they’re taking on a Texas team that quite simply cannot hit water if they fell out of a boat.  Sure, Mo Bamba and White Boy Osetkowski can defend, but the only defense they’re going to have tonight is to run for cover from the hurricane of Rock Chalk Jayhawking that’s going to go down in Phog Allen tonight.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Shaka’s chaps turn the ball over 20 times tonight, off of which Devonte Graham and Svi the Dream will promptly sink 10 transition threes apiece.  Kansas by a million.

Disclaimer:  Good luck out their tonight boys.  Remember, if you still have two pennies to scrape together at the end of the night, then it was a good night.
