So let me start off by saying yes it IS already week 8 in the CFB season. It’s sad, we are fast approaching the big holiday season where college football starts to wind down into bowl season. Still, a little over a month away and this week we are set to preview the match ups happening in the BIG XII.

1. West Virginia at Baylor

First things first, Baylor is trash. The fact that they even still have a football program is mind-boggling. The football gods have sent a massive amount of karma their way and the bears are off to an 0-6 start. With losses to Liberty (FCS) and UTSA, and literally everyone else. They take on the WVU Mountaineers who have had a decent season so far but Dana is still pulling his hair out. Two losses to two top 25 teams isn’t bad at all. WVU is walking away victorious from this one.

2. Iowa State at Texas Tech

This one is going to be better than you think. Yes, Iowa St. beat Oklahoma and that was great but it was a simple case of overlooking your bad opponent. Iowa St. and their first-through-fourth string QB’s are bad. Good matchup for a Tech team that went into Morgantown and worked WVU for three quarters. This is Kingsbury’s best team yet. He doesn’t want to get fired, Tech wins because they are bouncing back from a heartbreaking loss to WVU. They are also just better. Iowa St. is trash.

3. Oklahoma at Kansas St.

Trap game anyone? No, not at all actually. I would love to give KSU the benefit of the doubt but they have not lived up to preseason hype. I will say this, I’m waiting for them to upset someone and a loss for Oklahoma would mean another season of missing the CFB playoff. This could be Bill Snyder’s last year and I would love to watch him go out in style, but that’s not happening. Oklahoma wins in the little apple without much problem.

4. Oklahoma State at Texas

This is going to be a good game. Texas is coming off an almost comeback win in the Red River Shootout, where freshman QB Sam Ellinger lead Texas to a go ahead TD early in the fourth quarter. It didn’t last long as Oklahoma immediately answered and Texas lost. Texas IS NOT back by any stretch, but they have found their QB. They will give Oklahoma St. a run for their money. OK St. has a good resume themselves, only losing to #4 TCU. Now, they look to come to Austin and keep the streak alive. With Mason Rudolph at the helm and a good receiving core for him to throw to, they look to tear up the Longhorn defense. This one will be close and have OSU on upset alert. Ultimately, Texas and Tom Herman get the much needed win and OSU keeps the title of Oklahoma’s little brother.

5. Kansas at TCU

Last but not least, the game with the prime time spot. Kansas is another trash program with their only win coming against Southeastern Missouri State (FCS). If I was a Kansas fan I would not want this game to be in prime time. It’s going to be a massacre that KU is on the wrong side of. On that note, let’s talk TCU, Gary P has TCU right where they need to be: undefeated with some good wins on the resume. Kenny Trill is not so much that anymore. He now is just Kenny Hill and he’s tearing opposing defenses up with his arm and legs combo. Gary P has the defense coming along. Look for TCU to roll Kansas, and Gary P to keep his foot on the gas.

Side Note

Shout out to my boys at Texas State, they have a much needed bye week. Next week they travel to Coastal Carolina University to take on the Chanticleers. They could really use your prayers because they are 1-7 and not having flashes of being anything more. Look for the Texas State preview next week.
