Week 3 could have gone better, as 3 top 25 teams had to cancel their games due to Hurricane Florence. Everybody here at Student Union Sports send their prayers to everyone affected by the disaster. Some teams wish Week 3 never happened, Wisconsin got upset, USC got creamed, and TCU couldn’t come up with a big win. For others though, it was great. Week 3 in the biggest win/most cupcake win takes a look at a huge game for LSU and a breeze of a win for Clemson.

Most Cupcake Win of the Week: #2 Clemson beats Georgia Southern, 38-7

Clemson escaped last week against TAMU when they stopped their dreadful 2-point conversion attempt, but this week, they didn’t have to worry about a close game. Georgia Southern was 2-0 coming in, but they were against lower-level teams compared to Clemson. GSU is also coming off a 2-10 season last year. Playing in Week 3 against a team that has only been to 1 bowl game ever is a pretty easy week for Clemson. The Tigers held GSU to only 143 yards of total offense while piling up 595 yards of their own. One thing that Clemson does not like about this game though is the 3 turnovers they had as a team. Look for them to correct those mistakes before taking on Georgia Tech next week. Clemson this week gets the Most Cupcake Win of the Week.

Biggest Win of the Week: #12 LSU beats #7 Auburn, 22-21

Auburn came into this game as 10-point favorites, and rightfully so. They were 2-0 with a big Week 1 win over Washington. But LSU marched right into Auburn and stole a road win in the SEC. LSU scored 9 points in the 4th quarter, including a 42-yard field goal as time expired to cap their comeback win. Joe Burrow led the final drive with 5 ½ minutes left, making some clutch plays and benefitting from Auburn committing 2 pass interference penalties. Auburn committed 2 turnovers and missed a field goal, while LSU missed a field goal and committed zero turnovers. LSU coming into Auburn and stealing a win is the Biggest Win of the Week.
