This college football season is fun! Cincinnati is ranked for the 1^st time since 2012, Notre Dame looks like a contender, and I think it is safe to say that Texas is back! This week’s biggest win was just as difficult to choose, as it was to choose the biggest cupcake win. Miss St. beat up on Auburn, TAMU and Kentucky went to OT with Kentucky losing, and Utah just embarrassed Stanford. But none of those games were the biggest win or the most cupcake win. Texas beating Oklahoma, and dominating the game at one point, is the biggest win of the week. Nebraska has yet to win a game under new head coach Scott Frost, and it continued again this week when they got beat up on by Wisconsin.

Most Cupcake Win of the Week: #16 Wisconsin beats Nebraska 41-24

Heisman candidate Jonathan Taylor had a game and a half this week, running for 221 yards and 3 TDs. Including a career best 88-yard TD run. The offensive line was just dominating all game long. As a team, Wisconsin had 370 yards rushing and 533 yards of total offense. The secondary had a rough time this week, as an already roughed up group got even thinner. Cornerback Deron Harrell left with a head injury, and safety Scott Nelson got ejected for targeting. Nebraska’s freshmen QB took advantage of that by throwing for 384 yards and 3 TDs. The Wisconsin defense struggled but ended holding up in the win. Dominating the run game and holding together enough on defense to secure the win is enough to be rewarded the Most Cupcake Win of the Week.

Biggest Win of the Week: #19 Texas beats #7 Oklahoma 48-45

Texas is back! Before the season started, I put out some bold predictions, and one of them was that Texas would win the Big 12. I mentioned that the game against Oklahoma would be the biggest decider in their path to the title. At a neutral site location, they didn’t have to worry about going into Norman and trying to steal one. This game didn’t even feel like they stole it either, it seemed like it was theirs to lose. They had a 3 TD lead going into the 4^th quarter and seemed to be on cruise control until Kyler Murray struck for 2 quick TDs to get Oklahoma back in the game. He threw one and ran another from 77 yards out. Oklahoma then tied with 2:38 left in the game. Texas had a chance to win it on their final drive and they took advantage of it. They benefitted from a pass interference call, but they drove down to the Oklahoma 23 and with 14 seconds left, freshmen kicker Cameron Dicker (who was a #nice 6/9 on field goals for the season before his game winner) smacked a 40 yarder to put Texas up for good, 48-45. Oklahoma had a chance for a miracle but on the final play they fumbled, and it was recovered by UT. Texas is now in the drivers seat for the Big 12 title and is the winner of the Biggest Win of the Week.
