Folks, there was football played. It was played this past weekend. As someone whose first love was football, I have gone down the deep hole of getting into too many fantasy football leagues. So each week this year I’ll have a quick recap of ALL 8 OF MY FANTASY FOOTBALL TEAMS.

QC Fantasy Football

Team: Future Champions Record: 0-1

This is my work league. I basically have to be here. In fact, I’m here so I don’t get fined. It is a 16 team, standard line up, 1 point PPR league. I care so little about this league that I auto-drafted.

With Miles Sanders and Courtland Sutton being scratched from their line ups in Week 1, I was screwed. I lost 126.3-80.9. Big Ben led my team with 28 points and 2 others had just over 10. This team might win 3 games.

Just Some Boys From MoHo

Team: Future Champions Record: 1-0

This League is one of the most important. It includes a bunch of my friends that I graduated high school with and my most often talked to group chat. This week, we started HOT. The league is a standard 10 team, 1 point PPR league that has 4 rostered keepers.

2 years ago, I drafted Patrick Mahomes in the 12th round and he obviously has been my keeper. This is the league I’ve been in the longest and I’ve never won. Constantly taking somewhere between 3rd and 5th, but I just haven’t gotten over the hump.

This week we murdered our opponenet 132.2-94.1. My highest scoring player was Calvin Ridley with 33.9 points. He was 1 of 3 players dropping 20+. On my opponent’s side, his highest scorer was Will Fuller with 19.2.

This week, I’ll be playing a team headlined by Derrick Henry and Julio Jones. He is off to an 0-1 start. Keeping momentum and not letting my friends get to me is huge.

Student Union Podcasters League

Team: Future Champions Record: 0-1

This is the Student Union League. Filled with great minds and analytics left and right. After much debate, this league has 10 teams represented by all of Student Union’s podcasts. It is .5 point PPR, and has an added FLEX position.

I was destroying our fearless leader, Liam Smith quickly into the early games. Mostly stemming from Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s 19.8 points in his debut. However, he got almost no help with only 2 other players breaking the 12 point mark. For Liam, Juju, Kamara, and Tom Brady (somehow) put together 20 point games and washed away my hopes. I lost 125.8-90.6

12 Tight Pussy’s

Team: Hopihopwood’s Team Record: 0-1

This is another important league for me. I’m the 2nd oldest player in the 12 team league with most of the players being guys from high school who were a grade younger. Much like my other league, I’ve been in this one a while and haven’t won it. I’ve never even really been close. That needs to change.

It didn’t in week 1. This league is a Yahoo league and has super dumb scoring. Maybe that’s why I suck ass in it? I was over powered 185.5-147.5. While Josh Allen outscored Russell Wilson by 1 (49.98-48.03, again dumb scoring), I got jack shit from everyone else. It doesn’t help that I had to choose between Sutton and Mike Evans who were both game time decisions, and I went with Sutton seeing as he played Monday Night. Well he didn’t end up playing and I got screwed.

Tin Knockers

Team: Hopihopwood’s Team Record: 0-1

This is my Dad’s work league. It’s how we bond. He auto drafted last year and won the whole thing. I was so annoyed. He auto drafted this year, again, and I felt like I put together a nice squad.

This 10 team, .5 point PPR, Yahoo default league will be the death of me. A bunch of old sheet metal workers, probably once divorced, who wish Brett Favre was still in the league, continually kick my ass. Another loss 118.9-90.7 in this league.

Getting nice points from Tom Brady, Mostert, and the Baltimore defense, my team couldn’t muster much besides Zeke Elliott’s 26. That accounted for almost 30% of my team’s points.

Samurai League

Team: Wallermelon Eaters Record: 0-1

This league is fun. An 8 team, 2 QB league that offers 19 spots to mix and match your line up between 3 or 4 RB’s, 4-5 WRs’s and possibly 2 TE’s, things can get wonky. Mostly because you pay 75 cents per roster move other than trades. Your tight ends also get you 1.5 points PPR, with running backs and wide receivers earning 1.

These games are always high scoring and if you can score 200, you’re usually in the clear. However, I’m not so lucky. Going up against commissioner and last year’s league champion I got smoked 225.5-200.6.

I had 3, 30 point performances from Rodgers, McCaffrey (yes, I had the number 1 pick after being runner -up in this league 3 years ago), and DeAndre Hopkins. However, James Connor, Mike Evans, TY Hilton, and Keenan Allen combined for 27.9. Tough loss to take.

Badger Fantasy League

Team: Judge Jeudy Record: 0-1

This league has the same commissioner as the Samurai league and is much more standard. This league is 10 teams, .5 point PPR and you can have a combo of 5 between RB, WR, and TE. There are, however, certain legal lineups.

Despite 30 points from Russell Wilson, my team was only able to put up another 38. Yeah… Fuck me, I guess. Besides Travis Kelce’s 14, my next highest scoring player was the namesake, Jerry Jeudy with 7. That was no match for Kyler Murray and Davante Adams who almost outscored my entire team with 27 and 34 respectively. Final in this one was 105-68.

Random Dynasty League

Team: Team BigHoppa32 Record: 1-0

I got into this league because I went searching for a dynasty baseball league on Twitter and found a guy who runs a bunch of baseball and football leagues. I joined this dynasty football league and love it. There’s no defense or kicker and has 1 QB spot, RB spot, WR spot, and TE spot, followed by 5 FLEX positions.

I think I’ll like this weird 12-team, .25 point PPR league. Mostly because I won 141.5-78.3. With the help of Russle Wilson, Davante Adams, and Calvin Ridley, my team eased to victory. In fact, those 3 players alone outscored my opponent by 17.

This team will be fun to play with heading into the future as a dynasty league. A lot of young talent in Josh Allen and Russell Wilson at quarterback, new Colts starting running back Jonathan Taylor, and a seasoned receiving core in Adams, Cooper, Hilton, Ridley, and Edelman. This team has a lot of potential.

Overall Week 1 Performance

Combined Record: 2-6

I pride myself on fantasy football. I’m always so close to having a good team, but I’ve never been to the promise land. Please join me on this emotional roller-coaster that is fantasy football.
