Everything coming into this draft regarding the tight end class is about Kyle Pitts. It’s not undeserved, Pitts is the best prospect at the position we have seen in years. With that said, it forgets a number of talented players at the position. Here we are going to take a look at Brevin Jordan, one of the elite prospects in this class.

Receiving Ability

Brevin Jordan is a versatile piece that NFL teams will be able to line up everywhere. He will see snaps on the outside, in the slot and on the edge of the line. He was the former top TE prospect in the nation and showed his polish almost immediately catching 30 passes and scoring four touchdowns.

His sophomore season was not as positive as he did not show much improvement in his game or numbers. In his junior season though, he had huge games especially at the end of the year. Jordan showed an improved ability to run the middle of the field and after the catch. Three 100-yard games led the team even though he missed three himself. Blocking Ability

In the modern NFL, everything is about the statistics tight ends throw up. We have seen Travis Kelce and George Kittle recently break the receiving yardage record for the position. Sports media often fails to mention though that these are two of the best blockers in football. That is the mold the league is getting with Brevin Jordan. While Miami was one of the worst blocking teams in major college football over the last half decade, Jordan stood out. He routinely lined up on the edge of the line in both the run and pass game. The TE might have been the teams best blocker. Here he is pushing a Florida State player 15 yards down the field in their match up this year.

Summary

Expect Jordan to go somewhere in the mid-second to early third round. He seems to be the consensus TE3 behind Kyle Pitts and Pat Freiermuth from Penn State. Overall though, I like him more than Freiermuth. He showed a more diverse game and I do not hate a Brevin Jordan pick at the end of the first round.
