The two-time defending champions are looking to be the first team to three-peat since Minnesota did it in 1934-1936. Georgia has lost a ton of talent from last year’s national championship team. However, Kirby Smart is ready to get the next wave of talent here at Georgia back to yet another national championship. Will Georgia football be in contention for a three-peat?

Offense

With Stetson Bennett officially out of Georgia, the Bulldogs are looking for a new signal caller. The front runner is red shirt junior quarterback Carson Beck. Beck will need to fill some big shoes, however he has some good weapons around him. He has the best tight end in the country in Brock Bowers (a potential top ten pick in 2024 NFL Draft), and Ladd McConkey who is their top returning receiver.

Georgia also added talent in the transfer portal as they bring in wideout Dominic Lovett (Missouri), who is a big playmaker. As for Georgia’s offensive line, they are bringing back four offensive lineman with starting experience. However, they are starting a redshirt freshman at left tackle (Earnest Greene III). That’ll be a tough spot for Georgia. The Bulldogs still believe their offense will be one of the best yet again in the SEC in 2023.

Defense

Georgia loses a lot of production from the 2022 national championship team. They are bringing back some talent, though. Up front they are bringing back Zion Louge, Nasir Stackhouse, Tramel Walthour and Warren Brinson. Those four names will be huge in Georgia’s pass rush. At linebacker, they are super green at the outside linebacker position. They counter this with the inside linebacker position and returning starters Jamon Dumas-Johnson and Smael Mondon Jr. At the secondary spot, they are returning three starters including National Championship MVP Javon Bullard. Tykee Smith, Kamari Lassister, freshman Joenel Aguero, and others that will round out a solid secondary group for the Bulldogs. Look for Georgia’s defense to be a good unit yet again in 2023.

Win Total Bet

The win total is set at 11.5 wins on the FanDuel Sportsbook. The over is set at +116 odds and the under is set at -142 odds. Georgia is due for a step back at some point and time. This year, I think that they will not achieve this win total. The odds are still too high for my liking. However, I do see them being in the conversation of still appearing in the SEC title game this year. They are the odds on favorite at -105 odds to win the SEC title game. If I were going to put money on Georgia, I would sprinkle some change on them winning the SEC title instead of their win total for the 2023 season.
