Chuba Hubbard Returns

My god the mullet man did it. In the midst of the buildup to the 2020 National Championship game, there was another buildup occurring on the plains of Oklahoma. Around 5:00 P.M. central time, the nation’s leading rusher Chuba Hubbard announced he was returning to Oklahoma State. He was the 5th ranked running back in the 2020 NFL Draft by ESPN’s Mel Kiper. Hubbard chose to return for his junior season after an incredible 2019 campaign.

Hubbard is returning after a remarkable 2019 season. He rushed for over 2000 yards and 21 touchdowns, which ranked 1st and 3rd in the NCAA respectively. He had the 2nd best rushing season in Oklahoma State history, behind Barry Sanders’ historic 1988 season (2,628 yards, 37 touchdowns; the NCAA record).

If Chuba Hubbard can put up the same incredible season in 2020, he could permanently stamp his name into Oklahoma State lore. He is 25 rushing touchdowns away from tying Sanders for career rushing TD’s. His 2,834 career rushing yards are only 2,167 behind Thurman Thomas’ 5,001. While those seem like tall tasks, he is completely capable of accomplishing those goals.

Oklahoma State is now returning eight starters on offense and ten on defense. They could potentially have the nations best running back and the nations best receiver in Tylan Wallace. The return of Chuba Hubbard now makes the Cowboys a legitimate Big 12 title contender for the 2020 season.
