Ohio State star freshman DJ Carton announced via Twitter on Thursday that he was stepping away from the program to focus on his mental health. As if the team could afford to lose him as they have hit a wall since playing West Virginia.
This loss is going to hurt the Buckeyes in more than just a depth standpoint. Carton was the teams third leading scorer (10.4 ppg), sixth in rebounding (2.8 rbg), second in assists (3.0 apg), third in steals (0.7 spg), fourth in minutes played as the 6th man (23.9), and top four in categories such as field goal percentage, three point percentage, and many more.
DJ Carton has been one of the most exciting players for this confusing Buckeye team. What is most important for this young man though is that he fixes his mental and figures out what is best for himself. To openly admit you have something wrong in your head is one of the hardest things to do. I admire his decision to choose his health and I wish nothing but the best for him as he starts this journey.
