On Tuesday night, the Evansville Aces Upset #1 Kentucky in Lexington. After beating then-number one Michigan State just one week ago, the Kentucky Wildcats find themselves getting beat AT HOME by the University of Evansville. Coming into Rupp Arena, Evansville was only given a 4% chance of victory per BPI (Basketball Power Index.) They also came into the matchup as 25-point underdogs.

It seemed as if the Aces, led by K.J. Riley (18 points), seemed to just edge out the Wildcats as they held Kentucky to 37% shooting from the field, including an abysmal 23.5% from behind the arc. One thing that certainly proved to be important was that Walter McCarty’s squad held Kentucky’s scorers in check, as Immanuel Quickley and Tyrese Maxey were the only Wildcats in double digits in the scoring column.

Where does Calipari go from here? They have already stopped playing Indiana after THAT Christian Watford buzzer beater. Will UK just stop playing teams from the Hoosier state in general? Surely they would never! I mean it’s Kentucky for crying out loud!

It seems as if there is always one Missouri Valley team that loves to play spoiler. Whether that was a Wichita State team of past, or Loyola Chicago more recently, the big question is; could it be Evansville’s turn this time around?
