As hard as I have tried over the last three years to hate Baker Mayfield, I can’t. From his better than you attitude, to his off the field antics in Arkansas Baler is a very hateable guy. One of the biggest douchebags of this sports era, the guy still just gets it done. He might not be able to put up an undefeated season, and let’s be honest he might not win a single CFB playoff game, but he always gets it done.

The one thing nobody can say about Baker Mayfield is that he isn’t a player. He has been balling since he was a high schooler in Austin. From walk-on to starter as a true freshman, he always was a gunslinger. Don’t forget about lighting it up in his first game for over 400 yards through the air with 4 TD’s and no interceptions. From his first college snap he has gotten it done.

His pettiness is on another level. This is what used to drive me crazy. “Act like you’ve been there before,” I would say, until I recently realized I am just like him. I would trash talk and let you know I was better than you. What I thought I hated about Baker is what I LOVE about myself. So why do I hate Baker Mayfield? I don’t, I can’t and I won’t lie to myself anymore. I’m on team Baker. Bake, buddy if you’re reading this I want to apologize. I wish you nothing but the best.

This brings me to my final point, Kansas you suck. This is what football’s about. If you think he wasn’t talking just as much trash to teams like Clemson and Ohio State when both teams embarrassed the Sooners in previous years, you’re wrong. Kansas had it coming. Cheap shots and being unsportsmanlike deserves way worse than this. Like years and years of being bad at football… oh wait. Baker is a player’s player. He has all but accepted the Heisman and he is everything we all want to be. Thanks, Bake.
