earl Thomas during warmups in 2019 against the Seattle Seahawks

A new kind of fight is brewing around NFL training camp, but it does not involve any players. The news and rumors surrounding Earl Thomas and many assumed he would be heading to Dallas. Ian Rapoport tweeted out this morning that the Cowboys would be moving on from the pro bowl safety.

Makes sense. Although there must be some disappointment among Cowboys fans, Ian is just doing his job, right? Wrong. Jerry Jones fires back on local radio station, 105.3 The Fan that Rapoport “Doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”

This is obviously a heavy claim Jones is levying against the NFL insider. His job is to have these contacts and report news he deems viable to share with the world. On the other hand, Jerry Jones would know whether or not his team would be interested in a free agent.

The NFL Network correspondent would not let those claims go unanswered. In a segment on TV Ian Rapoport fired back with the RECEIPTS! He mentions the time he reported Dak Prescott would be given the Franchise Tag in November. Jones made a similar remark, but Rapoport ended up being correct. Hear his whole reaction in the tweet below.

Although I have no clue if this beef leads to anything real, I love the idea of Jerry Jones signing Earl Thomas out of spite. This might just be the motivation that the Cowboys owner needs to pull the trigger.
