“Lane Kiffin, who has resurrected Florida Atlantic’s football program in just one season, has agreed to a new 10-year deal with the Owls.

“This is further proof of FAU’s unbridled ambition,” FAU president John Kelly told ESPN on Tuesday.

Florida Atlantic (10-3) faces Akron on Tuesday night in the Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl and has won nine straight games, capturing the Conference USA championship earlier this month.

The 10 wins are the most in program history for the Owls in their 13 years as an FBS school. Before Kiffin’s arrival, FAU had suffered through three straight 3-9 seasons.”

How awesome is this?

Lane Kiffin, one of the most targeted coaches in the country to land a big time, high major college job, has been locked in long term. Rumors were flying left and right that Lane Kiffin can be leaving FAU to go to Tennessee or Florida or UCLA or any of those major college football teams. But nope, Lane Kiffin decides to stay at FAU and it seems to be for a long time.

Signing a 10 year contract is a big time look for Lane Kiffin. People are saying that there is NO WAY he stays at FAU for those full 10 years, but I really think he is going to stay at FAU for a majority of that contract. He is still a very young coach with a great offensive mind and already years of experience coaching at major football programs or NFL franchises.

In his one year, Kiffin has already turned FAU into a mid-major powerhouse. If you don’t think recruits see this and want to play at FAU, you are dead wrong. Who wouldn’t want to spend their 3-5 years on that beautiful campus right near the beach with Florida weather all year round, playing for a highly explosive offense. Throw in one of the most fun coaches out there, and one of the best mid major teams in the country right now. Kiffin is going to get some big time recruits.

If you don’t think Lane Kiffin is going to stay there long time, then follow him on twitter (not just because he is one of the best follows on the site). It also shows he really seems to enjoy being at FAU and like he found a home. He is winning, he is making a lot of money, and he is LOVED there, unlike anywhere else he has been. Finally, he is looked at as a football god and in all reality, with Kiffin’s ego, that is all he is looking for.
