LaVar Ball just may be the smartest man on the Earth, I don’t know, but he just announced to Darren Rovell that he was creating a league for premier recruits to go get paid instead of attending a university that would pay up to 10K a month.

At first you probably are thinking, “This will never work.”

But really, where has doubting LaVar gotten you so far? I could imagine you hate the success he is having, because of how often he talks.

Today was no different. On a day where college football recruiting was supposed to be the most discussed topic in sports, LaVar decided to send the college basketball world for another spin. LaVar truly knows when to steal headlines for the day, which seems like most days.

The Idea

Earlier this month, his kids signed a professional contract to play in Lithuania. A few weeks later, he announces this. His kids will be playing in this league, and that will only be bringing in some of the top recruits in California.

I think that doing this right now is strictly because his kids are playing overseas for money, and he can’t control the situation over there. The idea however is so perfect, and has a chance to take some top players, at least in California, and potentially start a direct feeder to the NBA.

The success may not come in the short term, but don’t expect LaVar to just give up on this idea because it is a legal, easy way to get to the NBA faster than College. The NCAA has too many issues right now, and if a school is clean right now, that doesn’t mean it was in the past.

Why not join something that  1) Doesn’t punish you for being paid after high school , 2) Pits you against top competition, (If all goes well) 3) Is known to be clean with no team biases, and 4) Gets to be sponsored by Big Baller Brand? That is the real reason he is trying this by the way.

BREAKING NEWS!!! LAVAR BALL PROMOTING HIS BRAND!!

It is too easy to see man. If he starts his own league, you better believe those uniforms, shoes, socks, warmups, etc… will all be BBB.

Money

10K a month is what LaVar is saying, which is solid. A lot of people are saying, “Isn’t that what most 5 star recruits are getting anyways?”

Well… Yeah. But if they get caught, they are suspended, can’t improve in college, go to the next level, and become a bust because they didn’t play enough in college, and the pro’s don’t give you enough time to develop, so they go to the D-League to die.

In LaVar’s mystical land of flowers and roses, these players can develop as long as they want, get paid, and move on. These players can use this league as a stepping stone, since Mr. NCAA, Mark Emmert, said that the NCAA is not a stepping stone.

I know that we are done talking about LaVar, but this could potentially take some premier players from the NCAA, and potentially put NCAA basketball to sleep.

So stop sleeping on LaVar, he continues to be flawless in each delivery.
