Congratulations to the Los Angeles Dodgers on winning their first World Series since 1988. However, we need to talk about what happened after the game.
Actually, we need to talk about what happened before the game. How can Major League Baseball let a player, or even a team, play with an inconclusive test? How irresponsible are we going to be?
Turns out, Justin Turner gets a positive test in the middle of the game and is pulled. First of all, how can you have test results coming in during the game? Secondly, did you even have a plan for if a test does come back positive?
What was going to happen if the Rays came back and forced a game seven? Who knows if there will be an outbreak between the two organizations because of this. But luckily, the Dodgers won, and they were very safe about their postgame celebration.
See, totally normal. At least Turner didn’t leave his isolation to be on the field with his teammates, their families, reporters, and literally any other human on the field.
This is just flat-out embarrassing on all levels. First, the blame goes to Major League Baseball for allowing this game to start with an inconclusive test. Then, the Dodgers need to feel ashamed that they allowed Turner to celebrate on the field with teammates, friends, family, and anyone else who was exposed.
The reason we had to have a fanless, 60-game season was because of stupid shit like this. It’s unreal that we just stopped caring about what is happening. As a result, confirmed Covid-19 cases are skyrocketing.
If you want to go watch your favorite baseball team next year, don’t do what MLB and the Dodgers did last night.
