Ole Miss defensive tackle Tywone Malone becomes one of almost a thousand players to enter the transfer portal this offseason. It was first reported by Matt Zenitz of On3.com that the 6’4 run stuffer would be transferring. Malone appeared in thirteen games last season tallying 10 tackles, 1 sack, and 2 pass breakups. The year prior, he appeared in just one game against Austin Peay where he made 3 tackles and 1 sack. He’s a former top-100 recruit that will have two years of eligibility remaining.

What sets Malone apart from other transfers is that he’s also a standout baseball player for the Rebels. As a true freshman in 2022, Malone had a .444 batting average in seven games with 2 home runs and 4 RBIs. The monster designated hitter has seen action in six games thus far batting .100 with 1 home run, 1 RBI, and 1 walk.

Whoever lands Malone gets a versatile defensive tackle and a power hitter on the diamond. Might I suggest he transfers to the University of Connecticut? The Huskies made a bowl game last season and are currently the 15th ranked baseball team in the nation. Maybe it’s just my Huskies bias, but Malone would look great in navy and white on Saturdays and even better in pinstripes in the spring.
