College football is back! Okay well not quite, but it’s close enough to start getting excited about. With kickoff just five weeks away, we are officially kicking off our preseason coverage with our first edition of our top 25 power rankings. We asked 11 of our writers to cast their ballots, and this is what we came up with.

For the most part, there are not a ton of surprises. Perhaps the biggest surprise is that for the first time in the history of this website, we got 11 people to agree on something: every single ballot had Alabama ranked at the top of the list. I am also proud to say that we did not fall into the media trap that seems to happen every single year and over-hype Texas. I’ve heard that Texas was supposed to be “back” for about 5 straight years now only to watch them fall flat and miss a bowl game.

Our most unique ballot came from our own Luke Maiers who had three teams that nobody else had in Miami (OH), Fresno State and BYU. While these certainly seem like interesting choices, maybe Big Takes knows something that the rest of us don’t.

Without further ado, here are your official Student Union preseason top 25 power rankings.
