Top 20 SEC match up against old school SWC foes. Night game kickoff so fans will be enthused. What could go wrong? Well for starters it’s being played at Jerry World in Arlington, which college football games should always be held school campuses. Everything is just better when games are held on campuses not neutral sites. The electricity in the air of home games are just far superior to neutral site games. Also, it was raining for much of the early afternoon. Okay, done will my rant on that, time to get this week’s post rolling because Jerry World did not stop SECYouAtKyleField from showing up and having a great time!

Aggies were facing the hogs of Arkansas on Saturday night so that gave the chef of the tailgate ample amount of time to get his food ready. Nothing is better than pulled pork to eat during the tailgate when you are facing the hogs right? Andrew Plugge bought 60 pounds of meat and started to smoke them Friday afternoon. All throughout the night he took care of the pork while others got the sides ready. Along with my older brother Andrew, a few of my cousins who go to Arkansas traveled down to Dallas to go to the game with us. This is their 3rd year in a row coming down and they were ready to beat the Aggies…Wishful thinking I kept telling them.

We packed up our tents, TV, chairs, coolers, food, etc up in our cars and made the 45 min long ride to Arlington. We arrived right before noon to set up and just as we parked to get everything out of the cars the first quick hard shower came down. It was not ideal but just as the players have to play on a wet field, tailgaters have to tailgate on a wet field. We were surrounded by both Aggies and Razorbacks and it was a solid group. We had finally put up both tents when the wind picked up and started to blow the tents away. In order to fix this problem we had to have people hold down each of the poles. Since this was not the ideal situation for a tailgate, everyone spread out and holding a pole, someone had this AMAZING idea of turning on some AC/DC and playing the drinking Thunderstruck. Since we were already in a circle it worked perfectly. By the time the game ended the wind had calmed down, the sun came out, and everyone was having a great time!

Since the game started at 8, there was lots of time to kill. Since the game was not at Kyle Field the tailgate was not as big has it had been but there was still a good amount of people there, unfortunately not many of these people knew about the Fireball challenge! This presented a challenge for the few members who were used to it…and let’s just say it was a buzzer beater and the man who finished the last 6ish shots of fireball Mic Dropped the bottle as the song ended. It was a thing of beauty. After that song was played the food came out and everyone filled their bellies with tasty pork. The sun was starting to set, we had just witnessed an amazing comeback from Tennessee, and everyone was ready for game time.

I walked to the stadium with two of my family friends that both go/went to Arkansas. We split up to go into our side of the stadium. The final words I was left with from them were “If the hogs win I’ll see you back at the tailgate spot, if not I’ll see you next time” Needless to say, I have not seen them since. The Aggies had another huge conference win. We have beat Arkansas 5 straight years and hope to continue are hot streak against South Carolina this week on the road. I will not be traveling to this game next week so I will not have a tailgating piece. I’ll write about what College Station is like on an away game. 4-0! Thanks and Gig’em!
