As we enter 2019 CFB Week 3, this is one of the final weeks we’ll see the Playoff caliber squads beating up on the cupcakes and FCS school. In case that’s your thing, don’t fret, Kansas still has to play the rest of the Big XII.

This week also separates the bowl contenders from the season pretenders. If Illinois can win their third straight contest to open the season, the likelihood of playing in December keeps growing. A 3-0 start can save jobs for coaches, and that’s what we’re hoping for and looking at with Lovie Smith. Lovie signed an extension this past offseason, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned in college football, an extension means nothing. A win against Eastern Michigan secures competitive football in Champaign into conference play.

Auburn looks like the real deal with Bo Nix, Michigan did what the British never could, escaping from an elongated battle with Army, and Wisconsin and Maryland continue to impress.
