The B1G will be taking over Madison Square Garden for a Super Saturday basketball-hockey doubleheader. At noon EST, Maryland and Illinois will tip off at center court to open the day. The primetime event, however, comes at 7 PM EST when Michigan & Penn State will drop the puck at MSG for the second time ever and first time since the inaugural event in 2016, a 6-3 Michigan win.

The hockey portion of the Super Saturday festivities drew 13,000+ fans the last time these two teams got together at The Garden. It’s a great way for the B1G to open the eyes of fans and potential recruits on their conference. There are tons of alums for both schools in the area making this a great opportunity for them to see their alma mater on the ice in one of America’s most iconic sports venues.

Both the Nittany Lions and Wolverines are desperate for a win to crawl up the B1G standings. Michigan could get right back into the thick of things in a very close race for the top spot in the B1G.

This is a great event for the Big Ten and hockey fans in general. It’s also great for the players to take a trip to Manhattan and play in one of the most historic barns in all of hockey, whether it’s in Manhattan or Stockholm. It’s a prestigious event that should certainly live up to the billing yet again.
