Terrace Marshall Jr. was set to breakout during the 2020 season for the LSU Tigers. With Justin Jefferson being drafted, and Ja’Marr Chase opting out, Marshall Jr. was the number one option on that team. However, we didn’t see a huge jump in his numbers from his sophomore year to his junior year at LSU. I would like to think that is due to the quarterback situation, as he went from Joe Burrow throwing him the ball to Myles Brennan and TJ Finley. Another factor is, obviously, that he played less games his junior season. I still expected to see a bigger season by Marshall Jr., stats wise.

Despite the lack of crazy numbers, his talent and makeup kept Marshall Jr. on a lot of NFL scout’s radars.

Pro Day –

Junior Season Stats

Marshall Jr. hauled in 48 passes for 731 yards and 10 touchdowns in 7 games this season. As I said, those stats are very impressive for a seven game season. Don’t get me wrong, 10 touchdowns in 7 games is wildly impressive, but I would’ve liked to see more catches out of him and be more involved in that Tiger offense.

Strengths

There is a lot to get excited about in Marshall Jr.’s game. He is 6’3″, 200 lbs and ran a 4.38 at his pro-day. He has a big catch radius, as he has the ability to make bad throws look like good ones. Marshall Jr. also does a great job tracking down deep passes and catching them in stride. His greatest strength, though, is his ability to catch in traffic. A team looking for a big redzone target should keep their eye on him.

Weaknesses

There is a small list of weaknesses in Marshall Jr.’s game. One weakness being his motor. Despite his excellent 40 time, you never really see speed from him on tape. Rarely did you see him turn it up to second gear. Another small weakness is his route running. He really only has one move off the line of scrimmage, which is a stutter and go move. He also drops some easy passes once in a while, but so does every receiver.

Comparison/Draft Projection

Draft Projection – Round 1, Pick 26 (Cleveland Browns)

With Jarvis Landry being very unproductive over the past few seasons and Odell coming off injury, Cleveland might look for a receiver here at this spot. He could fit well alongside other young receiver, Donavon Peoples-Jones.
