Nothing is better than that first ice cold Gatorade after doing some good ol sports with your friends. I think it’s safe to assume that everyone that does loves Gatorade. I’ve never heard a bad thing about it except from nerds, losers and haters.

I honestly like just about every flavor of Gatorade. There’s been a couple that just never hit the right note, and that’s ok. Babe Ruth didn’t hit a homer every time he went up to the plate. It’s all about winning more than you lose and Gatorade certainly has. But the problem is that makes nailing down my favorites incredibly difficult and admittedly, mentally exhausting.

The Lemon Lime Debate

I don’t generally associate with people that slander lemon lime. It’s the original flavor and I think it’s a bigger part of Gatorade’s identity than people realize. It’s the flavor a lot of people think of when they think of Gatorade. And it’s pretty damn good. It’s not personally on my list (I’m limiting myself to three) but I just can’t write a blog about Gatorade without mentioning lemon lime. Also, it’s my dad’s favorite flavor of Gatorade. That’s just a fun little fact I threw in there, free of charge.

Anyway, here’s my three

3. Riptide Rush

This is a great flavor. It’s pretty versatile in that it’s pretty good cold or at room temperature. As someone who shares a rather small fridge with a roommate that also likes putting things in the fridge, that’s a pretty important factor. There’s no easy way to describe the flavor but if you know you know. Also, if you’re a fan of peanut butter crackers this flavor pairs really well with some peanut butter crackers. Great on-the-go combo

2. Cool Blue

Cool blue actually had a really strong case for number one. It’s a universally beloved flavor. Everyone at least kinda likes cool blue. This isn’t to say that I care about what other people think, but I do like to see when other people have good taste.

It’s an all-around great flavor. My only knock on it is that I’m not a huge fan of it at room temp. But when it’s ice cold? Damn near unbeatable.

1. Green Apple

This is where we might get a little controversial. I’ve heard quite a few people describe it as “underrated” which is odd because that insinuates that there are people that think it’s not good. And it’s really damn good. It is a very sweet flavor. It’s very “out of the box” with regard to what I think Gatorade generally strives for with new flavors. It’s aggressive, it’s bold, but it pays off in a big way.

I first had green apple whilst working at 7/11 in East Lansing, MI. It was in the late winter of 2017, and I was introduced to this weird new flavor. I had a bit of a headache that morning (as I did many mornings that year, it was really weird I can’t figure out why) and this flavor helped me wash down a couple Tylenols exceptionally well. It’s a wonderful hangover Gatorade but that’s a ranking all on its own, another day perhaps.

So let’s stir the debate a little bit? What is your favorite flavor of Gatorade? How are you spending your Corona stimulus check?
