Now NBA Bubble champions, the 2020 Los Angeles Laker solidified their position among the all-time great squads, but took a commanding lead in another category: NBA All-Meme Team. Filled with unique characters and personalities on and off the court, it was a genuine pleasure to follow their team. It’s hard to imagine they’ll ever be upstaged.

LeBron James

One of the most recognizable sports figures on the planet, there’s a good chance he’s the most meme’d, too. Greatness on the court and greatness on the internet.

Anthony Davis

The man has a world renowned unibrow, but he likes it that way.

JR Smith

Basketball fans fell in love with a factoid about his love of Hennessey, which was apparently not true in the slightest. Back in 2019, Smith claimed he’d only ever had three glasses of Hennessy in his life. The ‘Henny God’ nickname arose after an image of him holding up a bottle received viral attention, which Smith claims was simply champagne. His unwillingness to wear a shirt also gained plenty of internet fame following the 2016 title run with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Y’all know about the other one…

Danny Green

Danny Green trends on Twitter faster than any player I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately for Green, it’s typically in part and due to missed shots, especially in the 2020 Finals.

Alex Caruso

The Bald Eagle! Caruso may look like a 40 year old dad at the Y, but he’ll dunk all over you.

Rajon Rondo

Someone from Twitter claims he looks like Franklin the Turtle. I will offer no comment on my opinion. There’s also a fan trolling him by calling him his favorite point guard, Chris Paul.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

KCP faced a HUGE amount of slander during the middle of the season for his poor play. Caldwell-Pope turned things around in a drastic manner and proved a significant role player for Los Angeles down the line. There’s also a gaffe by a play-by-play announcer who called him Kentavious Caldwell-Poop.

Kyle Kuzma

Kuzma is meme’d for his antics and bloopers and dating life which includes celebrities Kendall Jenner, Vanessa Hudgens and now Winnie Harlow. Pretty straightforward stuff.

Javale McGee

Javale was the Shaqtin’ champion for years. For those of you unaware, Shaqtin’ A Fool is Shaquille O’Neal’s blooper reel short on Inside the NBA on TNT. McGee’s consistent errors wound up frequently featured on the segment, even creating a minor feud between the two until — yes — their mothers intervened. McGee is still a blooper legend.

Dion Waiters

People across the internet have made light of a pretty sad situation with Waiters. While a part of the Miami Heat, Waiters suffered a severe panic attack and potentially a seizure on the team airplane, reportedly (later denied) from the consumption of marijuana-laced gummies.

Quinn Cook

Cook looks an awful lot like rapper J. Cole. He trolled some fans at a mall who mistook him for Cole a few years back.
